A 72-year-old cyclist was fatally injured on Sunday afternoon in Gaming in the district of Scheibbs in the Mostviertel in a collision with a car.

According to police, the woman from Gaming was traveling with her 76-year-old husband on the bike path from Scheibbs toward Gaming when the accident occurred around 4:30 p.m. near Grafenmühl. At this point, the bike path switches to the other side of the B25, requiring the road between Neubruck and Kienberg to be crossed.

The woman apparently failed to see both the stop sign on the bike path and an oncoming car coming from the direction of Scheibbs as she crossed, according to police reports on Monday. The car was being driven by a 70-year-old driver from the district of Amstetten. The cyclist was seriously injured in the collision.
