An 83-year-old woman drowned on Friday in Neufeld Lake in Lower Austria after helpers had recovered her from the water.

At Neufeld Lake in the district of Baden, a tragic bathing accident occurred on Friday. An 83-year-old woman from Lower Austria got into a distressed situation in the water and was brought to shore by a first aider. According to the APA agency, the woman was already in a critical condition.

After the recovery, the first aider immediately initiated resuscitation measures. The Samariterbund and an emergency physician took over and continued the resuscitation measures of the first aider, as stated in the official release: „Der Samariterbund und ein Notarzt führten die Reanimationsmaßnahmen der Ersthelferin fort“. Despite the rapid response, all help came too late for the elderly woman; she died at the scene of the accident.
