The canton of Aargau has announced an external investigation to determine whether authorities committed omissions in the Untersiggenthal abuse case, while the proceedings concerning the accused's residence permit must be decided independently by the Administrative Court.

The canton of Aargau is responding to the ongoing criticism of its handling of the Untersiggenthal abuse case by commissioning an external investigation. The review is to determine whether the responsible bodies made mistakes when dealing with reports of possible sexual assaults. The canton also announced that the accused's residence permit would continue to be processed through the ordinary administrative channel, independently of this review, and currently has to be assessed by the Administrative Court.
