AC Milan seeks new sporting director: Frankfurt manager Krösche on the list of candidates

According to "Kicker," the 45-year-old initially did not want to comment on the rumors. Krösche has been sporting director at Eintracht Frankfurt for five years and has earned a reputation as a transfer specialist during that time. During his tenure in Frankfurt, he repeatedly made very good transfer decisions and generated a transfer surplus of around 150 million euros – more than any other Bundesliga club over the same period.

With the upcoming sale of Nathaniel Brown to FC Bayern, the €200 million mark would be surpassed. Krösche's track record at the Hessen side makes him attractive to clubs that want to operate financially shrewdly while remaining competitive on the pitch.

Further candidates on the list

In addition to Krösche, Milan is also said to have Ramón Planes (most recently sporting director at Al-Ittihad) and Devin Özek (most recently sporting director at Fenerbahce) on the list. The Serie A club is thus holding talks with experienced executives from different leagues.

Head coach question still open

The head coach question also remains open. The leading candidate to succeed Allegri is widely reported to be Oliver Glasner. The Austrian had announced early on that he would be leaving Premier League club Crystal Palace at the end of the season. With Crystal Palace, Glasner won the Conference League in the past season, securing the first European title in the club's history. Before that, he had managed Frankfurt from 2021 to 2025.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, however, no agreement has yet been reached between Glasner and AC Milan. According to the report, the coach and the club are still in talks, with no move yet confirmed.

Ralf Rangnick, currently team manager of the Austrian national team, is also not in the running for the Milan head coach position, according to information from Gazzetta dello Sport. According to the report, Rangnick has already decided against a move to AC Milan. This further shortens the list of candidates to succeed Allegri.

The search for personnel is thus running on several levels in parallel. While the new sporting director is expected to shape the club's sporting direction for the coming years, a solution needs to be found in the head coach position that can lead the club back into the Champions League. At AC Milan, which missed out on qualifying for the premier competition this season, the pressure is accordingly high.
