Wiesbaden, 11 August 2026
Accommodation establishments in Germany recorded 223.8 million overnight stays in the first six months of the year, an increase of 0.3 percent compared with the previous record for a first half-year.
The balance for the first half of 2026 is slightly positive from the perspective of the accommodation sector. As the Federal Statistical Office announced, overnight stays in hotels, guesthouses, holiday apartments and other accommodation establishments added up to 223.8 million. That is 0.3 percent more than in the previous record half-year.
The previous peak figure for a first half-year was thus exceeded, albeit only just. The statisticians interpret the development as a sign of persistently high demand for overnight stays in Germany. The underlying report was distributed via the dpa news channel.
