As the Federal Statistical Office in Wiesbaden announced on Tuesday, accommodation establishments in Germany recorded a total of 223.8 million overnight stays in the first half of 2026. The industry thus surpassed the previous peak result for this period and set a new high. The authority spoke of a record value for the first half of the year and assessed the figures as confirmation of Germany's enduring appeal as a travel destination.

The increase was significant according to the statisticians' assessment and continued the positive trend of recent years. Demand extended across all segments – from classic hotels and guesthouses to campsites. Larger cities and rural regions also benefited, as the data shows. Tourism in the Federal Republic has thus continued to prove itself a stable economic factor.
