The ADAC conducted random traffic observations in five major German cities and recorded numerous violations of the mobile phone ban at the wheel.
Results of the Random Samples
According to the auto club's observations, around 2.7 percent of motor vehicle drivers and 1.4 percent of cyclists and e-scooter riders used their mobile phone while traveling. In Cologne, the mobility club registered numerous violations during checks at Konrad-Adenauer-Ufer and Zülpicher Straße. In total, the testers observed 9,573 motor vehicle drivers and 9,239 cyclists and e-scooter riders. They counted 262 mobile phone violations among motor vehicle drivers and 125 violations among cyclists and e-scooter riders.
