Stuhlfelden, 08 August 2026

Following the severe storms overnight into Friday, two houses in the Salzburg municipality of Stuhlfelden are currently uninhabitable, and cleanup work on clogged debris dams in the Pinzgau region is proceeding at full speed.

Stefan Herbst described the situation as tense on Friday. „Zu 13 Objekten ist derzeit keine Zufahrt möglich. Bei zwei Gebäuden sind die Keller mit Wasser und Schlamm komplett gefüllt“, said Herbst. This makes clear that the damage extends beyond mere road closures and also affects residential buildings.

According to the Torrent and Avalanche Control authority, the emergency services are focusing on clearing the streams, where debris and wood had piled up to form blockages. These clogging incidents are considered one of the main causes of the flooding along the Tobersbach and the Kötschacher Ache.
