Kühtai, 16 June 2026

Nature conservation organizations on Tuesday presented joint demands for better protection of the Alps at the Dortmunder Hütte in Tyrolean Kühtai, sharply criticizing the current approval practice for alpine construction projects.

Criticism of Accelerated Approvals

The Austrian Alpine Club (ÖAV), together with other nature conservation organizations, invited media to an event at the Dortmunder Hütte in Tyrolean Kühtai. Against the backdrop of the reservoir and the dam project in the Längental valley, the associations presented their demands for better protection of the Alps. The central concern was that the energy transition in the mountains is increasingly being implemented at the expense of nature and the landscape.
