Seville, 02 July 2026

In Andalusia, the conservative People's Party (PP) will henceforth govern together with the right-wing populist party Vox, after incumbent PP leader Juanma Moreno was elected as the new head of government of a coalition government in the second ballot in the regional parliament in Seville with 68 votes from PP and Vox.

The election in the Andalusian regional parliament had become necessary after Moreno had failed to achieve an absolute majority in the regional election on 17 May. His PP won 53 seats and thus fell short of the threshold of 55 deputies required for an absolute majority. Vox won 15 seats, so that together both parties reached 68 votes and were able to confirm Moreno as head of government on the second attempt. The first vote on Tuesday had still failed because the required majority was missing.
