According to three reports, the announced closure of Ardo's plant in Groß-Enzersdorf threatens the livelihoods of numerous Marchfeld farming families, as they would lose a nearby buyer for their vegetables.

The Marchfeld is one of the important growing regions for Austrian frozen vegetables. With the announced closure of Ardo's plant in Groß-Enzersdorf, farms in the region now face a significant problem regarding who will buy their harvest.

The farms are currently located close to a plant that processes their products into frozen vegetables. Because of this proximity, cultivation was apparently economically viable for the affected families. Without a nearby plant, this basis for production could disappear.

A spokesperson or representative from the agricultural sector summed up the concern in a direct statement: „Without the nearby plant, cultivation is no longer worthwhile for numerous farming families.“ The warning therefore applies less to a single company than to the regional production structure.
