Groß-Enzersdorf, 21 October 2026
In Groß-Enzersdorf, the next round of negotiations over a social plan for the workforce of frozen vegetable and pasta manufacturer Ardo began on Tuesday. The company’s plant is being closed in several stages through to August 2027.
The closure of the Groß-Enzersdorf site is already confirmed: As the company announced, frozen vegetable production will end in December 2026, the pasta line will be shut down in spring 2027, and the plant will close permanently in August 2027. This means hundreds of workers will lose their jobs in a region already under pressure from structural change in agriculture.
At the centre of the ongoing talks is a social plan providing for severance payments, qualification measures and support with job searches. The trade union is leading negotiations on the employee side, while company representatives sit on the other side. Tuesday’s round of negotiations is expected to further specify the scope of financial benefits and establish the timing of support offers.
