Following a presumed murder plot uncovered at the end of May in Esslingen, another 15-year-old from the Rems-Murr district has been arrested and taken into custody.

Background of the arrest

The Stuttgart Public Prosecutor's Office and the Baden-Württemberg State Criminal Police Office (LKA) had already conducted a large-scale police operation in Esslingen on May 22, during which several teenagers aged 14 to 16 were temporarily arrested. At that time, a total of four suspects from the same group came under the focus of investigators; two of them – including the 15-year-old now arrested again – were initially released.

The 15-year-old from the Rems-Murr district was arrested at his home address on Wednesday by LKA officers, as the LKA announced on Friday. The Baden-Württemberg Cybercrime Center in Karlsruhe had issued an arrest warrant on suspicion of joint murder, it was stated. Previously, investigators had analyzed the teenager's mobile phone, which led to the suspicion against him hardening. The teenager had already been briefly taken into custody during the May investigations but was released at the time due to a lack of urgent suspicion.
