Apple is reportedly working on AirPods with cameras for AI features, according to leak

Visual Intelligence allows devices to recognize their surroundings and provide contextual information — for example, identifying objects, translating text, or recognizing locations. If the feature is moved to AirPods, users could receive similar analyses without having to pull their smartphone out of their pocket. Apple has already announced plans to integrate Visual Intelligence more deeply into its ecosystem.

The codename for the AirPods project is "B798," according to Gurman. These are prototypes that Apple is currently testing internally. When the camera-equipped AirPods could come to market is unclear; typically, several years pass between initial leaks and a retail launch at Apple.

Well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had previously reported on AirPods with cameras and described similar features.
