Madrid, 22 May 2026
Real Madrid defender David Alaba will play his final match for the club this Saturday against Athletic Bilbao, as confirmed by the club in a press conference on Friday.
The 33-year-old Austrian international, who has been with Real Madrid since 2021, will be honored during the match at the Santiago Bernabéu. Alaba's departure marks the end of a five-year stint with the Spanish giants.
Alaba joined Real Madrid from Bayern Munich and quickly became a key player, helping the team win two Champions League titles and two La Liga championships during his time at the club.
However, his tenure in Madrid was also marred by significant injuries. In late 2023, Alaba suffered a torn ACL that sidelined him for over a year. A subsequent meniscus tear in the summer of 2025 further limited his playing time.
