Two Russian nationals were arrested by police at the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul because, according to media reports, they allegedly read the Bible inside the building, which today serves as a mosque.

The incident, which according to Kathpress occurred on a Monday, is being classified by the Turkish authorities as a possible violation of Article 216 of the Turkish Penal Code. This provision concerns the offense of "incitement to hatred." The two Russian citizens were escorted out of the building and taken into custody, the Catholic news agency reported.
