Australian soccer professional Cristian Volpato has come into the focus of Australian police following two speed checks and a cocaine test, as reported by the broadcaster ABC and several newspapers.

The Sassuolo Calcio player was reportedly driving his BMW and was initially caught traveling at significantly excessive speed. During a later check, he was driving at 109 kilometers per hour in a 60 zone, according to police, as the reports indicate. That is nearly 50 kilometers per hour over the permitted limit.

According to local police, a 22-year-old driver was stopped twice in one night for excessive speed. Officers then initiated further measures, including a drug test. The test reacted positive to cocaine, as the reports consistently describe.
