The Austrian federal government is considering expanding alcohol bans at train stations and possibly also on trains, according to the Ministry of Transport and the Austrian Federal Railways.
The background to the debate is the alcohol bans that have existed for years at several heavily frequented railway stations. According to information from STANDARD, these include Vienna Praterstern, Vienna Floridsdorf, Vienna Westbahnhof, Wiener Neustadt Central Station, Salzburg Central Station, Innsbruck Central Station, Klagenfurt Central Station, and the Vorarlberg locations of Feldkirch and Dornbirn.
