Austria is expanding its IVF Fund and lowering the co-payment for artificial inseminations from 30 to 25 percent, as Family Minister Claudia Bauer announced.

The IVF Fund, which has existed for 26 years, is being significantly expanded. Family Minister Claudia Bauer (ÖVP) presented the changes on Friday. Accordingly, the co-payment that affected couples must bear themselves for an artificial insemination will drop from 30 to 25 percent of the treatment costs.

"Konkret sind es im Schnitt 180 Euro, die wir Familien damit zusätzlich abnehmen, in Härtefällen deutlich mehr", so Familienministerin Claudia Bauer laut APA. The relief applies to all couples who meet the fund's requirements. The fund was established 26 years ago to support couples with unwanted childlessness.
