Vienna, May 18, 2026
Austria's national team coach Ralf Rangnick unveiled his 26-player squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Monday, opting for continuity with no unexpected inclusions.
Squad Composition
Rangnick's selection largely mirrors the group that featured in March, with established stars like Real Madrid defender David Alaba and veteran striker Marko Arnautovic leading the charge. The squad also includes towering 2.05-meter goalkeeper Florian Wiegele and LASK forward Sasa Kalajdzic, fresh off a domestic title win.
Notably absent are players like Maximilian Wöber and Gernot Trauner, who were sidelined due to long-term injuries. Rangnick emphasized the importance of avoiding last-minute disappointments, stating he wanted to finalize the squad early to spare players the uncertainty of potential cuts.
