Austria's gas storage facilities are approximately two-thirds full according to the Austrian Gas Grid Management (AGGM), and Energy Minister Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer expresses confidence with a view toward winter.
Storage levels in Austria currently stand at around 66 percent according to AGGM. This puts the country on track, in the operators' assessment, to have sufficient reserves even in the coming heating period. The industry association emphasizes that the storage facilities have been continuously filled in recent weeks and are currently above the average of comparable EU countries.
Energy Minister Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer pointed on Thursday to the combination of filled storage facilities, stable imports, and increased domestic production. "Die aktuell in Österreich bereits gespeicherten Gasmengen in Kombination mit stabilen Importen und verstärkter inländischer Erzeugung in Wittau lassen uns zuversichtlich in den Winter blicken," sagte er. With the additional production in Wittau, Austria's domestic supply of natural gas is rising by several percentage points.
