A 46-year-old Austrian fell from a catamaran in stormy seas off the Croatian Adriatic coast on Sunday and has since been missing off the island of Šolta.
According to current information, the missing person is believed to be the skipper of the sailing boat. Initial reports indicate that the man went overboard under circumstances that remain unclear and disappeared from his fellow sailors' field of vision.
Despite the unfavorable weather conditions, all available resources were immediately deployed: two rescue boats from the Milna harbor master's office, one boat from the Hvar branch, and three vessels from the Sea and Airport Police Split are involved in the search. The Croatian coastguard is also part of the operation.
Large-scale search at sea and from the air
According to consistent reports, crew members still attempted to help the 46-year-old with a rope. The attempt was unsuccessful, however, because the man drifted out of their field of vision and submerged in the churning waters.
