St. Wolfgang, Austria — May 14, 2026
Austrian extreme sportsman Franz Müllner set a world record on Wednesday by using pure muscle power to pull two 200-ton passenger ships 25 meters across Lake Wolfgangsee.
Historic Feat of Strength
The Salzburg-based athlete dragged the MS Österreich and MS Salzkammergut, two historic vessels operated by Wolfgangsee Schifffahrt, across the water in a display of raw physical endurance. The ships, with a combined weight of nearly 200 tons, were moved without mechanical assistance, marking Müllner’s 64th extreme strength record.
"This world record is far more than just a sporting achievement for me," Müllner said after completing the pull. "Es geht darum zu zeigen, was möglich ist, wenn Wille, Vorbereitung und ein starkes Umfeld zusammenkommen" ("It’s about showing what’s possible when will, preparation, and a strong support system come together"), he added, visibly exhausted but elated.
