The German regional newspaper "Badische Zeitung" sharply criticizes the Frühstartrente, calling it a "casino pension" and judging that it does not give children the certainty of an adequate statutory pension after a long working life.
A scathing critique from the "Badische Zeitung"
In an editorial reprinted on Tuesday, the daily "Badische Zeitung" takes a stance against the Frühstartrente, a retirement savings scheme for young children that the German federal government has pushed forward in the legislative process. The paper states that "children do not need a casino pension, but the certainty that, after a long working life, they will one day receive a decent statutory pension" ("Kinder brauchen aber keine Casino-Rente, sondern die Gewissheit, dass sie nach einem langen Arbeitsleben einmal eine vernünftige gesetzliche Rente bekommen").
