Berlin, June 4, 2026

The Berlin Senate is preparing the dismissal of State Secretary Matthias Hundt and, according to a spokesperson, intends to pass a corresponding resolution on Tuesday.

The Senate spokesperson Christine Richter confirmed the ongoing dismissal preparations to the German Press Agency. The Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB) had initially reported on this. "The Senate is preparing the dismissal and wants to decide on it on Tuesday," Richter stated, according to the agency.

Hundt was appointed Chief Digital Officer and State Secretary for Digitalization and Administrative Modernization in the State Chancellery in mid-March. He succeeded Martina Klement, who had moved to the Brandenburg state government as Minister of Economic Affairs. Hundt was born in Dresden in 1969.
