Surrounding buildings were also evacuated as a precaution. According to her information, no people were inside the affected building when the emergency services arrived.
Police cordoned off the area so that people and traffic would avoid the affected zone. The larger operation also involved three explosive-detection dogs from Hanover, who searched the building for a possible bomb. Initial information about the incident was published by the "Cellesche Zeitung."
According to a spokesperson, a bomb threat had previously been received by phone. Police searched the building with sniffer dogs to rule out a possible threat. The authorities initially stated that the animals had not found anything so far.
