British energy group BP is selling its fuel station and EV charging business in Austria to Swiss-based Volenergy AG, in line with its strategy of reducing debt and simplifying the group.
According to BP, the transaction covers 250 own-brand fuel stations in Austria, of which 115 are company-owned and operated under a franchise model. Also included are the fuel depot in Linz, the EV charging offering, and the fleet business associated with BP Austria. BP is divesting its fuel station and EV charging business in Austria, the group announced on Monday.
Scope of the transaction
The buyer is Volenergy AG, part of the Swiss Volare Group AG. Volenergy already took over BP's fuel station network in Switzerland in 2022. "BP trennt sich von seinem Tankstellen- und E-Ladegeschäft in Österreich," the company added. Once the transaction in Austria closes — which is expected by the end of the year — the station locations will continue to operate under the BP brand on the basis of a brand licensing agreement.
