Potsdam, August 25, 2026
Brandenburg's Finance Minister Daniel Keller (SPD) and Interior Minister Jan Redmann (CDU) jointly presented plans for personnel savings in the state administration in Potsdam on Tuesday.
At the center of the presentation was a phased plan with which the state government intends to reduce the administrative personnel expenditures in the coming years. Concrete figures on the scope of the planned job cuts were not initially provided in detail during the presentation. Both ministers emphasized that this was a first step within the framework of a broader consolidation course.
Finance Minister Keller pointed to the state's strained budget situation. The savings now presented were intended to send a signal that Brandenburg intends to get its expenditures under control. The state government faces the task of managing the balancing act between necessary savings on the one hand and the maintenance of functioning administrative structures on the other.
