Potsdam, 26 August 2026

The Brandenburg State Parliament in Potsdam is auctioning off part of the guest gifts from foreign state guests collected over the years.

According to information about the auction, numerous items from the parliament's holdings will go under the hammer in the coming weeks. In addition to coffee cups, plates and paintings, the lots include a jewelry box, a wooden comb from China, rain flower stones, and a hand-carved wooden chalice from Georgia, as stated in the description of the auction items.

As a spokesperson for the parliament explained, however, not all of the guest gifts accumulated over the decades will be auctioned off. "Some of the precious pieces" would be kept, it was said. Exactly which objects would remain in the collection and which would be sold was not known in detail at first.
