The Swiss striker Breel Embolo is moving to the North American professional league MLS after just one season at French top-flight club Stade Rennes, joining Atlanta United.
Atlanta United announced the transfer on August 23, 2026 via the short message service X. The post reads: „🎶 OH EMBOLO OH EMBOLO 🎶 — Atlanta United FC (@ATLUTD) August 23, 2026 Breel Embolo is a 5-Stripe 🔴⚫️ pic.twitter.com/16o39e2xIr“. As a result, the forward will in future belong to the squad of the club from the U.S. state of Georgia.
The striker's career stops
For the Swiss international, this is already the fifth club within just a few years. After spending three years each at Schalke, Borussia Mönchengladbach, and in Monaco, Embolo moved only last summer to Rennes, where he scored ten goals and registered three assists in 34 appearances across all competitions.
