Stefan Brennsteiner won the giant slalom in Sölden after posting the fastest time in the first run and defending a large lead in the second.
The giant slalom in Sölden was held in two runs. The second run was scheduled to start at 1 p.m. After the first run, Stefan Brennsteiner was in the lead, and he remained on the positive side of the time in the decisive second run.
Brennsteiner thus combined an outstanding first run with the overall victory. His time after the first run already left no doubt about the eventual outcome, as he also remained error-free in the second run.

Marco Schwarz was not entirely satisfied with his time after his run. He thereby pointed to possible problems with his line on the outside ski, the pressure on the inside ski and his boot.
