Observers see the prototype now presented as an attempt to further develop bus stops from mere waiting areas into small service points in public space. The combination of emergency call function, defibrillator, charging options, and digital information goes beyond the previous standard and follows concepts from other European cities.

Outlook: Possible Expansion of the Model

If the test waiting shelter proves successful, the model could also be deployed at other heavily frequented stops in Berlin, according to BVG and Wall. Which locations would be considered for this is currently still open. BVG announced that it will evaluate the results of the test phase and subsequently provide information on next steps.
