A cable fire at Vienna-Praterstern station has paralyzed S-Bahn service in Vienna, so that no trains are running between Praterstern and Quartier Belvedere, and together with an existing construction site closure, a large part of the Vienna S-Bahn network has failed.

S-Bahn service in Vienna was severely disrupted on Thursday morning by a cable fire at Praterstern. As the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) announced, no trains are running between Praterstern and Quartier Belvedere. The closure hits the Praterstern hub, one of the most important interchange stations in the capital, in an already strained operational situation. Passengers must expect considerable delays and train cancellations.
