The case is part of a series of alleged crimes reported from Upper Austria in recent weeks. At the beginning of August 2026, it became known that a 16-year-old, after fleeing custody, is alleged to have committed 19 offenses in Upper and Lower Austria.

Residents of care facilities count among the particularly vulnerable groups of people. The public prosecutor's office is investigating for theft; further information is currently not being provided.

Regarding the person of the arrested individual, it was communicated that he is a 23-year-old citizen of Slovakia. Whether he has confessed, the authorities are remaining silent about.
