Stefan Evers, the new CDU lead candidate for the Berlin House of Representatives election in September, clearly speaks out in favor of peripheral development of the Tempelhofer Feld. In his words, 50,000 people could find a new home there. Evers told the "Tagesspiegel": "50.000 Menschen könnten am Rand des Feldes ein neues Zuhause finden". At the same time, he announced that he wanted to forgo a new citizens' consultation or a referendum on the project: "Eine neue Bürgerbefragung oder einen Volksentscheid will er dafür nicht."
