The CDU in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has confirmed Daniel Peters as state chairman at a party congress in Linstow with 97.2 percent; the 44-year-old will also lead the Christian Democrats as their top candidate into the state election campaign on September 20.
At a party congress in Linstow, delegates of the CDU in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern confirmed their state chairman Daniel Peters in office with a large majority. Of 144 votes cast, 140 went to the 44-year-old, while four delegates voted against him. This corresponds to a result of 97.2 percent.
Peters, who has led the Christian Democrats as state chairman since 2022, is also the CDU's top candidate for the state election in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern on September 20. The party congress is therefore also considered the formal start of the hot phase of the election campaign. In his speech, Peters looked to the future and spoke of a result that should provide momentum.
