Election Results and Coalition Dynamics
Özdemir secured 93 votes in favor, with 26 against and four abstentions, according to verified parliamentary records. The Greens and their coalition partner, the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), hold a combined majority of 112 seats in the state parliament.
The Greens narrowly edged out the CDU in the March 8 state election, winning 30.2% of the vote compared to the CDU’s 29.7%. Both parties now hold 56 seats each in the newly constituted parliament.
