The Düsseldorf Public Prosecutor General's Office has filed charges of attempted murder following the attack on an ICE at Siegburg station, because, according to the investigation's assessment, the suspect intended to attack passengers with a knife and had planned the explosion of the softair grenades merely as a distraction.

The Düsseldorf Public Prosecutor General's Office accuses the suspect of having planned an attack on passengers of an ICE at Siegburg station. As the authority announced, the suspect intended the detonation of the softair grenades solely as a diversionary maneuver in order to subsequently stab travelers with a knife. The charge is attempted murder.
