Vienna, 12 June 2026
Austria's public broadcaster ORF has elected Clemens Pig, the 51-year-old former head of news agency APA, as its next general director, the foundation council confirmed overnight Friday after a session that lasted more than 15 hours.
What is new since the previous update
Pig will take over the country's largest media company on 1 January 2027, the ORF foundation council announced. He succeeds Roland Weißmann, who resigned in March amid allegations made by an ORF employee, and journalist Ingrid Thurnher, who has been leading the broadcaster on an interim basis through the end of the year.
