The federal government of CDU/CSU and SPD has adopted a 34-point reform package in the coalition committee, which among other things abolishes the telephone sick note and requires a medical certificate of incapacity to work from the first day of illness.

In the "Programme for Upswing and Employment," CDU/CSU and SPD have agreed on extensive changes in tax, labor market, and health law. Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) spoke on Thursday morning in Berlin of a "whole catalogue of significant reforms" and a relief volume totaling around ten billion euros per year. For a model household with two adults, two children, and 60,000 euros of taxable income, the relief should amount to up to 600 euros.
