The Austrian governing coalition has agreed on new media subsidies with a volume of more than 55 million euros, intended to strengthen newspaper delivery, digital transformation, and media literacy, among other things.
The STANDARD has obtained a draft of the ministerial council submission from the Media Ministry regarding the media subsidies from the beginning of July. The project is summarized in it under the title "Journalism and journalistic quality." According to STANDARD information, the coalition has agreed on the package.
Budgeted accordingly are 25 million euros for a new delivery subsidy for daily and weekly newspapers that are delivered to subscribers' house or apartment doors. Most recently, there had already been talk of a newspaper delivery subsidy from 2027 amounting to 25 million euros.
