Stuttgart, May 29, 2026

The Verdi trade union has called on employees of the state-owned casinos in Baden-Baden, Stuttgart, and Konstanz to stage a warning strike on Saturday, which is expected to disrupt operations on the highest-revenue day of the week.

The warning strike begins on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. and is set to last until the end of gaming operations in the early hours of Sunday. The union anticipates significant disruptions to casino activities. Around 500 employees have been called to strike, with small picket rallies planned in front of the casino buildings.

The union's demands

Verdi is demanding a pay-scale increase of 350 euros as well as an additional three percent wage hike, retroactive to January 1. According to the union, collective bargaining negotiations for the approximately 500 employees have reached an impasse. Two rounds of talks ended without a concrete result, and no new date has been scheduled.
