The Verdi union has called for warning strikes in retail, wholesale, and foreign trade in numerous federal states for Friday and Saturday, thereby expanding the industrial action that began on Thursday.

The Verdi union has extended the warning strikes in retail, wholesale, and foreign trade, which have been ongoing since Thursday, to the entire Friday and Saturday. According to the union, employees from Rewe, Penny, Rewe Logistics, Metro, Kaufland, Hit, Ikea, Douglas, H&M, Zara, and Primark are affected. The strike call thus covers large parts of stationary retail as well as affiliated logistics and warehouse areas.

In Berlin and Brandenburg, Verdi had already called for a full-day warning strike for Thursday. While in Berlin, the collective bargaining negotiations for retail ended without result on Monday, allowing for strikes, in Brandenburg, the duty of industrial peace for retail continues until June 30, 2026. Therefore, the strike call in Berlin targeted employees in both retail and wholesale, while in Brandenburg, it exclusively targeted employees in wholesale.
