The Austrian competition authority BWB has approved the planned takeover of the Tyrolean Moser Holding by the Vorarlberg media group Russmedia without applying for cartel court examination.
Clearance Without Cartel Proceedings
The Federal Competition Authority (BWB) unconditionally cleared the merger on Monday, as the authority announced. This allows the Russmedia media group, based in Vorarlberg and publisher of, among others, the "Vorarlberger Nachrichten," to acquire 77 percent of the shares in the Tyrolean-based Moser Holding, which in turn publishes the "Tiroler Tageszeitung."
Bank BTV, which had previously also been a shareholder of Moser Holding, will hold 23 percent of the joint holding in the future. The merged media house will be controlled by the Vorarlberg media family Russ via its private foundations.
