On Tuesday, as part of the summer session, the Council of States approved a framework credit of a maximum of 20 million Swiss francs, with which the Confederation aims to promote out-of-court settlements between the victims of the Crans-Montana fire disaster and the accused.

In the fire incident in Crans-Montana, 41 people lost their lives and more than 100 were injured, some severely. In the spring, the Federal Council announced that, as part of the so-called Lex Crans-Montana, which came into force in mid-March, it would convene a round table to resolve the differences between the 156 injured parties and the accused and to avoid lengthy court proceedings.

During the spring session, the National Council and the Council of States had already approved an initial emergency aid of 50,000 Swiss francs per victim. For 156 affected individuals, this amounts to a total of 7.8 million Swiss francs; the payout of this immediate aid began in mid-May.
