The Court of Audit (RH) sharply criticized expenses, compensation, and multiple functions held by officials in its audit of the Economic Chamber organization for the period 2020 to 2024, and at the same time suggested a series of reform steps.
At the end of the year, the Economic Chamber organization comprised 693 public-law bodies, including one federal chamber, nine state chambers, 93 trade associations, and 590 professional groups, as the Court of Audit noted in its current audit of the federal chamber as well as the state chambers of Vienna, Upper Austria, and Salzburg. In 2024 – the RH scrutinized the period from 2020 to 2024 – roughly 10,300 entrepreneurs served as officials for the approximately 710,000 members, with just over 1,000 in the federal chamber alone.
