Vienna, 10 July 2026

Austria's Court of Audit (RH) published on Friday the results of its review of the ÖVP's accountability report for the year 2023 and reported three violations of the Political Parties Act to the Independent Senate on Party Transparency (UPTS).

Review and corrections

After several corrections and submissions by the ÖVP, the report was forwarded to the Independent Senate on Party Transparency (UPTS), which decides on possible sanctions such as fines. According to the Court of Audit, the People's Party needed a total of four attempts before its 2023 accountability report formally met the requirements of the Political Parties Act. The party remedied the additional formal deficiencies – including incomplete listings of sub-organizations and district organizations, missing information on advertising revenues, and corrections to affiliated companies and bank liabilities – during the course of the review procedure.
