Pandemic and lockdowns as triggers

The debtors cite the economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic as the central reason for the insolvency. In 2020, the decision was made to open seven new locations – without anticipating that five lockdowns would follow shortly thereafter. "Despite deferrals, savings, and payment agreements with creditors, it was not possible to cover ongoing costs," KSV 1870 quoted from the insolvency filings. Ultimately, all restructuring efforts failed.

Worsening due to weaker purchasing power

In addition, the situation worsened from 2026 onwards due to declining purchasing power and further declining revenues. "The store closures and massive drops in sales had financially hit the companies hard," the filings state. All stores in the chain have already been closed, KSV 1870 further reported. According to the credit protection association, no restructuring of the two companies is planned.

Debts of 358,000 euros face assets of just 32,000 euros

According to KSV figures, the financial situation of the two insolvent companies is as follows: "Crazy Cheese Manufacture Holding GmbH" has around eleven creditors, debts of 191,000 euros, and assets of only 24,000 euros. The subsidiary MRL Crazy Cheese Manufacture W GmbH has 21 creditors, liabilities of around 167,000 euros, offset by just 8,000 euros in assets. Combined, the two companies' debts thus amount to 358,000 euros, against which only assets of 32,000 euros stand.

From "Cheese Millionaire" to insolvency

Roland Ludomirska, who had presented the cheese chain in the media over the years as a "Cheese Millionaire" and also appeared on trash TV, had made the corporate group known with an extravagant, flashy brand aesthetic. On Facebook, the company had around 74,000 followers. With the insolvency of the holding and its subsidiary, this story now ends once and for all. The insolvency proceedings will be handled at the Regional Court of Graz.
