A court in the Croatian city of Pula ordered on Thursday the pretrial detention of the Ukrainian diver Vladimir Z., sought by Germany as part of the investigation into the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines in the Baltic Sea.
The decision of the Pula court
The Pula court announced the decision on Thursday and argued that the pretrial detention measure was necessary "con vistas a su entrega" (with a view to his surrender) to Germany, given the suspect's risk of flight. The judge responsible for the case considered that Vladimir Z. might try to evade judicial action if released, according to the communication issued by the court and reported by the AFP and APA news agencies.
