Leinfelden-Echterdingen, 29 July 2026
The commercial vehicle manufacturer Daimler Truck has initiated a recall for more than 131,000 trucks of the Actros, Arocs, and E-Actros models because a component on the battery can potentially trigger a fire.
The recall was published on 29 July 2026 in the database of the Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA – Federal Motor Transport Authority) and confirmed by the Daimler Truck Group. Vehicles that rolled off the production line between the end of March 2021 and the end of October 2025 are affected. In Germany alone, 27,084 vehicles are potentially affected according to the company.
Cause: Corrosion on a sealed chip
The cause of the defect is a chip that is sealed with synthetic resin by a supplier. In isolated cases, however, this sealing was carried out inadequately, the company explained. This can promote corrosion on the contacts. At the corroded contacts, heat can subsequently develop and possibly lead to a vehicle fire.
